We are deeply saddened to announce that visionary saxophonist & composer Wayne Shorter passed away this morning at age 89.

Born August 25, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey, Shorter has left an indelible mark on the development of music for more than 60 years from his rise to prominence as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in 1959, his magnificent 1960s Blue Note albums, his transcendent work with Miles Davis, his far-reaching explorations with Weather Report, and the music made by his sublime quartet with Danilo Perez, John Patitucci & Brian Blade since 2001 including his recent Blue Note albums "Without a Net" & "EMANON."
